China's Xi and India's Modi Meet at BRICS Summit
In the first meeting between the new leaders of the world’s most populous countries, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi set the stage for healthy bilateral ties. Leaders of the five countries were expected to a sign a deal on Tuesday to establish a $100 billion bank and a reserves fund of the same size to challenge Western dominance over development lending. In return, Prime Minister Modi said that India’s newly elected government which he leads is keen to learn about economic development from China’s successful ascent.
